Credits and pricing

What a credit is

Studio, the editor, and uploads are free. Credits are spent only when you generate: an image, or one of the text actions below. The cost shows as a small label on the action itself, so you always see the price before you generate.

What things cost

Most reference images (a character portrait, full body, expression, turnaround, a prop, wardrobe, or setting reference) cost 6 credits. Panel artwork and map illustrations cost 8 credits. Short text actions such as a scene suggestion or panel planning cost 1 to 3 credits.

Failed generations

An image generation is charged whether or not you like the result, since the model call itself is what costs money. The one exception: if a prompt is rejected for being too long before any image is generated, that attempt is refunded automatically.

Several text actions work differently: if the model call fails outright (a provider error, a timeout, or nothing usable comes back) and nothing is delivered, the credits are returned to your account automatically. This covers generating a scene plan, a picture book illustration plan, a story paste proposal, Fill in the rest, Help me write, and Suggest from story. Other text actions are not refunded automatically.

If something seems wrong with a charge, contact support@charid.app and we'll take a look.

Have a code? Redeem it in Settings under Billing. Each code works once per account.

How to top up

Subscribe to a monthly plan for a set number of credits that reset each cycle. Subscribers can also buy a one-time credit pack when they need more before the cycle resets: pack credits carry over and are spent after your monthly credits. Without a subscription, redeeming a coupon code is the only way to add credits.
